Conversion Tracking

Learn more about 'conversions', what they are and why you should care in this guide.

We refer to conversion elements as “CTAs,” and they encompass ads, social sharing buttons, subscription sequences, or anything that requires further action by a reader or customer.
What is a "conversion" and why is conversion tracking important?
With Readz, you are able to track any call-to-action elements you may have on your page. We also refer to these elements as “CTAs,” and they encompass ads, social sharing buttons, subscription sequences, or anything that requires further action by the customer.

A call-to-action is a step that you are inviting your readers or customers to your site or digital publication to take. It can be all kinds of things: ‘subscribe to my newsletter’, ‘ask for a demo’, ‘buy this product’, ‘contact me’ or even simply a link. Whenever someone performs the action, such as clicking the link, or submitting their email, it becomes a conversion. Knowing which call-to-actions convert (or in other words, which ones are being clicked and which ones are not), is vital information for the success of your online presence. In Readz, we have a feature, ‘conversion-tracking’, which allows you to track exactly that: which of your call-to-actions are being clicked. By tracking these clicks, you can see how visitors are interacting with the different elements on your site. You can then use this information to better understand how well each call-to action on your page is performing. To use conversion tracking, you must first define which elements you want tracked. Once set up, your call-to-action elements will show up in the conversion-analytics dashboard. Then, when an action on your page is triggered, it is counted as a conversion, and will be included in your conversion tracking tool.
For example, a user entering their email and clicking ‘Subscribe’ would be a conversion. A consumer clicking ‘Buy’ on an eCommerce website would also be a conversion.

Conversions let you track effectively whether visitors are interacting with your content. To access our conversion tracking tool, your account on Readz must first be at least "Growth" or higher. Adding a conversion to an element

While in the Readz Design Studio, open the page where you have your Ad / CTA 1. Select your Ad / CTA 2. Check the box “Track in Analytics” 3. Give your ad a name that will be easy to recognize later when checking Analytics
4. Assign a goal to the element
Select an existing goal from the “Goal” drop-down menu or
Create a new one by clicking “Manage Goals”
Click “Create” while in the “Manage Conversion Goals” window.
Choose a name for this new goal. In the example below, I chose to name my goal “Ads,” since this element is an ad.
5. Close the “Manage Conversion Goals” window. 6. Select the newly created goal from the “Goal” drop-down menu. 7. Apply the same goal to all the ads in your project following the steps 1 to 6-a. Remember to give a distinguishable, non-repetitive name to each one of your ads in step 3.
Using the Conversion Analytics Dashboard

Once you have defined all of the actions you want to be tracked, you can observe those analytics through the conversion tracking dashboard. To access the conversion tracking dashboard, click on "Analytics" in the header of the Readz editor, then make sure you're viewing the conversions tab.

From the dropdown, select the URL for which you want to view data. If you want to view the data for a specific project, you can select it from project dropdown, too.

To adjust the time frame shown, you can adjust from the time frames provided.

Step by Step: Checking and Understanding your Analytics Click on Analytics on the Dashboard and then the Conversions tab. 1. Select the project you want to measure. 2.Select Ads (the goal you just created for tracking the Ads) from the Goal drop-down menu
4. Scroll to “Conversions by page” 5. Expand the page you want to check 6. A list of all the ads in that page will be displayed. This will give anyone who looks at analytics an overview of how each call-to-action is doing. This is another reason it’s important to apply specific and intuitive nomenclature to your elements. 7. Here you can see the amount of times each of your ads was clicked in the selected page. The number in the Conversions column tells you how many times that specific ad was clicked on that page. The number in the Entrances column tells you how many times that page was viewed. The third column, Conversion Ratio, shows you the conversion ratio of each ad.
